A major patriotic festival decorated with the colors of the territories that France planned to reclaim, the 1917 Great Alsace-Lorraine Charity Fair was held at the Parc des Princes. Alleys with evocative names were created for the occasion. The plan was to carry the patriotic flame while collecting money for charity.
